03531R — Hayman Reese Universal Welded Truck Towbar (3500kg) – Centre Hitch Box

Designed for easier compliance

This updated welded truck bar uses straight side arms that mount to the side of the vehicle chassis, making it easier to comply with body builder guidelines, removing the need for drilling into the vehicle chassis lower flanges. Side plates are intentionally supplied with only one pre-drilled hole, allowing installers to match the towbar mounting bolts (supplied) to existing chassis hole patterns (minimum hole/bolt spacing applies—refer to the fitting instructions).

Built for real work

As a welded towbar assembly, the 03531R is engineered for commercial towing demands and everyday use—ideal for trucks fitted with trays, tippers and most other body types.

Universal fitment approach for light trucks

The Universal Truck Bar platform is made to suit a broad range of light truck chassis configurations, with installer-friendly adjustment to align with factory holes where possible. Always confirm vehicle towing limits and fitment requirements before purchase and installation, noting the additional requirements of VSG16 for vehicles over 5000kg GVM.

Convenient hook-up and chain access

An integrated dropper / safety chain connection point improves D-shackle positioning, helping keep chain hook-up more accessible—especially when you’re working around rear steps, trays, or tight clearances.

Key Features:

  • 3500kg rating (vehicle limits still apply). Refer also to VSG16 for vehicles over 5000kg GVM.
  • New welded Universal Truck Bar range (distinct from Modular Class 5)
  • Centre hitch box configuration
  • Straight side arms mount to chassis side for easier compliance
  • Side plates supplied with one pre-drilled hole to match existing chassis holes
  • No drilling of chassis lower flanges required by design intent
  • Integrated dropper/chain point for improved safety chain access

FAQs:

Is this the Modular Class 5 towbar?

No—this is the new welded Universal Truck Bar range. It’s separate from Modular Class 5 tow bars which do not require welding during fitment.

Will it fit my specific light truck?

It’s designed as a universal truck solution, but fitment depends on chassis style, body/tray setup, and available mounting points. Confirm with the application guide and installation instructions before ordering.

Does it require drilling into the chassis?

The side plates are supplied with one pre-drilled hole so installers can align to existing chassis holes where possible (minimum hole/bolt spacing applies). Note that existing vehicle chassis holes may need to be drilled out to suit the mounting bolts supplied.

What do I need for a complete towing setup?

You’ll typically need an appropriate hitch insert/mount, towball or coupling setup, rated shackles/chain hardware (these are included), and trailer wiring—matched to your towing requirements and local regulations. 24 to 12V reducers or truck ECUs may be required, depending on truck manufacturer. Tail not included.

Where do I find the bolt spacing rules and installation guidance?

Refer to the official Hayman Reese installation instructions supplied with the product for minimum hole/bolt spacing and compliancing guidance.

What is VSG16?

VSG16 is a government document which affects the capacity of the standard 50mm (AS4177) towball for vehicles greater than 5000kg GVM. Trucks over 5000kg GVM will not be able to tow 3500kg trailers using a standard 50mm towball. For more information visit https://www.nhvr.gov.au/document/469
